Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) supports clinical and administrative operations in a neurology clinic by assisting providers with patient care, examinations, and diagnostic workflows. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience while maintaining compliance with clinical and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs (BP, pulse, weight, height, etc.).
     
  • Document patient histories, symptoms, and medications in the EHR.
     
  • Assist providers during neurological exams and procedures as needed.
     
  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
     
  • Support diagnostic services (e.g., EEG prep support, patient instructions, coordination with EEG technicians).
     

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
     
  • Handle intake forms, insurance verification, and patient documentation.
     
  • Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and diagnostic testing orders.
     
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in compliance with HIPAA.
     

General Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, compassionate patient care.
     
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas.
     
  • Follow clinic policies, safety procedures, and infection control protocols.
     
  • Collaborate with providers, front desk staff, and clinic leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
     
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
     
  • Prior experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic preferred.
     
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
     
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and basic computer skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in neurology, specialty clinics, or diagnostic settings.
     
  • Familiarity with EEG workflows or neurological terminology.

Skills & Competencies

  • Patient-centered approach and strong bedside manner.
     
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
     
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
     
Team-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
 

Compensation – Texas Market

Hourly Pay Range:

  • $17 – $22 per hour
